Meet Coach Kornblue

Brandon attended the University of Michigan and was a Punter/Kicker on the 1997 National Championship football team. In 1999, he was named Academic All-Big Ten. He went on to play in the Arena Football League, the Spring Football League, and spent six seasons as the kicker for the Florida Firecats (af2). Brandon is also a math teacher and the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) sponsor at Golden Gate High School in Naples, Florida.

Brandon finished his career as af2's all-time career leader in field goals made, PAT's made, and total points by a kicker. Following the 2005 season, he was named to the All-af2 2nd team.

The previous year, the Firecats won the 2004 Arena Cup championship by beating the Peoria Pirates 39-26. In that game, Brandon set an Arena Cup record by nailing four field goals.

In 2002, the Firecats won the American Conference championship.  Brandon led the league with 22 regular season field goals. He was perfect on field goals (8/8) in the playoffs from inside 45 yards.

The Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel recently voted Kornblue to the Palm Beach County All-Time Football Team. He was chosen over several prominent kickers, such as NFL veteran John Carney and Remy Hamilton. Since winning the 1994 Lou Groza Award as a high school senior, Brandon has coached three kickers who have gone on to receive the same award. The award, which honors South Florida's high school kicker of the year, is presented by the FedEx Orange Bowl.
